Hello

My name is Wesley DeGroot, real estate agent with RE/MAX Escarpment. I was born and raised by two loving parents in Burlington except for 8 months where I resided in Grimsby. We’ll get to that! 

 

When I was 17, working at Canadian Tire, my manager said I would be good at commercial real estate. No idea what that was going to entail, I went home that night to research. I was so excited that the next day, I changed around my high school courses so I could join a co-op program to work at a commercial real estate brokerage and take night classes on the side, so I still had the opportunity to go to University if I chose.

 

A few years later, I completed my diploma in Business Administration - Marketing with Sheridan College while I took my real estate course to get my licence on the side before I graduated in 2011. The day after I graduated from Sheridan, I began selling buildings and negotiating leases for companies with Colliers International.

 

As I was a commercial agent for years, I learned what hard work, professionalism, persistence and commitment really was in the “real world.” It was a grind, but I am so thankful to learn that in my early 20’s.

 

Then I thought it was time to buy a house in Grimsby with a girlfriend at the time and the relationship failed after 6 months. I sold the house which I could do as a licensed real estate professional and noticed such a lack of professionalism, honesty, returned calls, etc with many residential agents in the industry. I decided to make a shift to residential real estate at that time with the qualities I acquired in commercial real estate.

 

Present day, I have been living downtown Burlington in a beautiful condo with the best sunsets in the Summer. My amazing girlfriend, Charlotte also lives with me with our beautiful fur baby, Lolee. We love to workout, play golf, go on adventurous dates together and cook (I’m the Sous Chef, and she runs the show!). I plan on marrying this girl one day, and am so excited about the future with her!!!

 

I also love to give back to the community with a donation from every sale to the Children’s Miracle Network and volunteering for Big Brother’s Big Sisters with their Game On Program two to three times a year.
